Michael J. Brown, BS, CSCS, NSCA-CPT
Michael J. Brown is Owner and Director of Personal Fitness Training/ Athletic
Development and Performance Training for Deca Fitness Systems. He is
committed to the highest in academic and certification standards .He is certified by
the most recognized and established personal fitness/strength and conditioning
organizations in the industry. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from
Springfield College. He holds additional certifications in Sports Medicine and
Sports Coaching from the United States Sports Academy. He is a certified Health
and Fitness Instructor from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He is
a Certified Personal Trainer from the National Academy of Sports Medicine
(NASM). He is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and
Personal Trainer by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
And holds level I coaching certification from the United States Weightlifting
Federation (USAW) and the United States Track and Field Association. (USTFA)

A multi-sport athlete, Michael's "claim to fame" was in the sport of track and field as
a Decathlete. The Decathlon is a grueling 10 event contest testing the athletes
speed, strength, endurance and mental toughness. He was a 3 time All New
England Track and Field athlete. Michael was an Eastern Champion and New
England Champion in Long Jump and an IC4A Champion in Pentathlon (5 events).
Placed 2nd in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II
Decathlon Championships gaining All-American Honors. He was selected as a
member of the United States Junior and Senior National Decathlon Team,
competed internationally against Team Canada, Norway, and West Germany,
Soviet Union. He was twice selected to attend the United States Olympic Training
Center in Colorado Springs. His highest national decathlon ranking was 3rd in
1982, and was finalist in the 1984 United States Olympic Decathlon Trials. He
retired after the 1988 Olympic Trials but continues to train as a Master’s fitness

In 2008, he was inducted to the Springfield College “Athletic Hall of Fame.”
